About James

My name is James Melton.

The most important thing to me, and what makes me who I am, is my relationship with Jesus Christ.

The second most important thing to me, and also what makes me who I am, is my wife Lynn and my three daughters; Jennifer, Sarah, and Jamie.

Next comes everything else.

I am a bi-vocational preacher at a Southern Baptist church with one of the most wonderful church family anyone could ever wish for. I have been an ordained pastor for almost eight years now. Before this, I was a youth minister for about five years during my time in Seminary.

I attended Seminary at Luther Rice in Lithonia, Georgia, where I received my Bachelor of Arts in Religion.

I am still very humbled that God would want to use me in ministry knowing the life I lived in my younger days. I often say that the only reason Paul could say that he was the chief of all sinners is because he had not met James Melton

I am proof that God can use those He chooses to use.

I love telling people about what God saved me from and what He saved me too. I am sometimes hesitant to share my testimony with the younger generation because I don’t want them to think they can live however they want to now and be saved, or more godly when they get older. I am passionate about sharing my relationship with Christ so others might choose to live for Him now so they can begin to live a more abundant life now.

The world is full of every kind of evil and you don’t have to be a Christian to see this. I believe we should expect lost people to act like lost people. Conversely, if this is true, then we should expect saved people to act like saved people.

I know I am not perfect, and I rely on God’s grace every day.

I believe that the Bible is true and accurate in every word. Therefore, when it says that we are to love each other the way Christ loved us, this is not a suggestion, but a command. I look forward to showing God’s love to each person He puts in my path.

I try to focus on how I can glorify God in every aspect of life where He has placed me.
