About Don

Hello, my name is Don Goldman. I am a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Lynchburg, SC where I serve as a deacon and teacher. I was licensed as a minister by the church in 2016. I fill in as a supply pastor for the surrounding churches. I love teaching and sharing the gospel any chance I get.

I am married to Rose and we have two married sons and our first grandchild is on the way. I am heavily involved in the volunteer fire service in which one of my positions is serving as a Chaplain.

I attended a small private school where my principal for the school was also my pastor for the first 40 years of my life. I had many great Christian role models growing up. After high school, I attended The Citadel where I graduated in 1991 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration.

After graduating from The Citadel, I returned home to work in the field of accounting and audit.  For the next three years, I was heavily involved in the church. Then I got distracted by the world and began climbing the corporate ladder to where I am today. I ran from God and the things that I felt He was calling me to do.

In 2006, I was diagnosed with stage 2 colon cancer and had to have surgery and chemo.  Looking back, I see that my career and providing for my family had been my focus up until that point, leaving little time for family and my relationship with Christ. I believe that God used the cancer, to slow me down so that I could see what is important.

Tired of running from what God had called me to do and wanting to learn more so that I could serve Him better, I applied to seminary in the summer of 2013. I graduated from Luther Rice College & Seminary in May 2015 with a Master of Arts in Christian Studies and a Master of Divinity with Languages in May 2019.

No matter what accolades are said about me at the end of my life, the only one that is important is for people to know that I was a man of God. I give God all the glory and honor because without Him I am nothing. All that I am and all that I have is His.

In Christ,
Don
